Hiya!
I've been in Sydney for 4 days, and I'm leaving tomorrow morning at stupid o'clock to get the bus to Surf Camp. The weather has turned out to be better than I hoped when I first arrived to grey clouds and rain, but it's been by no means suntan weather. The hostel I've been staying in is a good one, close to the main train station etc, and I'm bunking with a very chatty girl from Canada who's been travelling for 15 months. It's made a difference, having a friendly room-mate, and the staff in the hostel are really helpful, much better than the Melbourne one.
Thursday was my first full day here, and despite the threat of rain, I decided I had to go to Bondi Beach. There's a nice coastal walk about 5km down to Coogee Beach and it's supposed to take about 2 hours. It took me almost double with all the stops for food, drink and more importantly, photos; it's a really pretty walk!
Friday I took a trip to the Blue Mountains. It was quite cloudy, which was a real shame because I think the views would have been spectacular. It was a really good day anyway, the guide was brilliant, and I met a couple of girls from Bristol that were on the last day of their holiday who were really nice. It's amazing how much of a difference it made to have a good guide, he was ace.
By Saturday, I was pretty worn out, so just took the ferry to Manly and then back again. It takes you right through the harbour and the views alone are worth the trip. I quite liked Manly itself; it's a little suburb with a beach that was packed with surfers when I was there. And today I've been on the Harbour Bridge climb. As it turns out there was only me and one other person on the tour, so it was like we had our own personal tour of the bridge and the whole climb. Randomly, that other person on the climb was Paul Potts from "Britain's Got Talent"! He's performing at the Opera House tonight as part of a 6 month world tour and he was lucky enough to be on the Bridge climb with me, haha!
So that's it for now. Hopefully, the next time you hear from me I'll be able to surf and won't have been attacked by a shark!
I'm still taking care,
Vicky
