A long weary day of travel today. We set the alarm for 7 am this morning, packed our stuff and walked the few blocks to the bus station. Our bus left at 8 am for Swartz Ferry Terminal where our ferry left at 9 am. It was much c
older on the way back today and there was much more cloud so we got a hot chocolate and some banana loaf from the cafe and sat inside, I wrote my travel diary and Dan took in the scenery and we spotted a few seals!
We got back to Pacific Central Station in Vancouver a 11.30 am and we were catching a 12.30 bus to Seattle. The journey time to Seattle was 4 hours or so along with the 20 minutes or so we had to get off the bus, take our baggage through customs then get back on the bus! On our arrival into Seattle we could see the space needle so we knew we were pretty close

Today we decided to head out and see what Seattle had to offer as it is our only full day here. Liz called the hotel this morning for a chat and helped us out with sorting our accommodation for Portland...thanks again Liz.!
We got ready and took a walk to have a look round the shops. We found a Quiksilver shop again and an Abercrombie shop so I treated myself to a T-shirt! We took the walk down the steep hill to Pikes Market, there were stalls all over, 3 floors of them! We stood with the crowd watching the fish mongers throwing fish orders to each other entertaining the crowds of people, it was great. It was very busy full of all the locals.
We continued to walk upto Seattle Center where the Space Needle was located. The weather was really odd, one minute it was blue sky then it would rain for 10 minutes then it was hot again
We found a nice little coffee shop with high stools where you got 1/2 hour free internet if you had a coffee so we checked our emails, walked back to the Motel, picking up some Fosters on the way and dialled a pizza from the room and stayed in watching the New York Yankees play the Seattle Mariners! Can't wait to leave here tomorrow...any longer i would of cried!

And again!
. We picked up a map from the station and decided as it wasn't late we would walk to the Motel we had booked for 2 nights. Walking to the Motel was an experienc in itself! We thought Vancouver was over populated with homeless people and drug addicts but Seattle really opened our eyes. The 20 minute walk seemed like an eternity..one guy shouted some abuse to me as I was crossing the road! There were literally no normal people around and it was quite a scary experience! We dropped our heavy rucksacks off, went to get a bite to eat and went back to the Motel as it didn't seem safe enough to go outside honestly!!! Paul was telling us previously that Seattle was the city known for the highest rate of suicides....you can tell why! Hoping tomorrow will be better in the daylight!Monday 29 August 2005

Creating our own fun!
! We took some touristy pictures and walked to a cool little fountain where you could sit and watch the different sequences to classical music, all the kids were running into the fountains getting wet! We checked out the Experience Music Project as it was free...we were trying to stay out of the town as much as possible today after yesterday's experience. We walked towards the pier and had a walk round dodging beggers asking for money and just as we were about to cross the railway the bell started to ring. The train started to go past....it continued to go past for about 5-10 minutes! It was the never ending train honestly it was so long i thought It was going to meet up somewhere on the track!
