And so this is it. We still have Malta, but this is the beginning of the end of our travels. It just seems to have gone so fast, but to be fair, whilst we've been away there have been births, deaths, marriages (same as deaths I suppose), new jobs, redundancies, Christmas, New Year and Easter. So the World was still revolving whilst we were away and everybody just continued with their lives.....how dare they!!

We headed down to the beach for the last time today. It was a little cloudier than normal - we assumed it was because Neil & Louise were in Rio (only kidding), but we think it was a sadness spreading over the skies knowing that we were leaving. We hung around for a couple of hours before going back to the apartment to check out. Then it was a taxi to the airport - by now it was actually raining....tears from the skies of Rio, and maybe from Christ himself!

On a separate note, Rio airports Terminal 1 is a bag of smelly pants!! It's really small and boring. We had been round the 4 shops in about 10 minutes so had to assume our position in the bar - oh so bad!

And so here it is, waiting for the 22:20 British Airways flight to Heathrow. It is sad to be coming to an end, but there isn't enough space on the internet for me to list all the fabulous and wonderful things we have done in the past 11 months and all the awesome people we have met. I'm just glad I spent the time writing this blog so I can keep reminiscing when I'm feeling blue back in overcast Mansfield.

We managed to board our flight on time but then just sat for about an hour doing nothing. Typical BA buggering it up - Blummin' Bolivian buses were more reliable!
Then, as we were just about to shoot down the runway, the brakes came on and we were motionless again. This time is was because the plane that had just previously taken off had spotted a stray dog on the runway!! As it was dark, the airport sent out shed loads of maintenance vehicles up and down the runways looking for old Rover with their headlights....well, with their eyes actually, but the headlights helped.
Anyway, it appears that Roaming Rover the Randy Rascal had disappeared.....no sh*t!!..... not being funny but if I was a dog and had inadvertently wandered on to a runway and had nearly been mushed by a giant metal monster, I think I would have blummin' well legged it as well!!

Finally, after the canine experience, we managed to get on our way. It was chicken and pasta for dinner tonight, washed down with a few beverages of the alcoholic variety of course.
Managed to watch 'Day the World Stood Still' on the movie channel....should have just gone straight to sleep - it was pants.
