We got our postcards sent off, which we were surprised at actually. Today is the first day of Easter here and so most things are closed, but luckily the post office was open.
Strange to think we only have one more postcard to send now....time is nearly over!!
We walked down to Parque San Martin, but had a very naughty visit to McDonald's on the way. I am feeling a lot better and just fancied a McPollo and a strawberry sundae - they went down a treat. Lorna didn't miss out either, although she had a little strop when she couldn't have chocolate sauce on her ice cream! It was funny to see.
At Parque San Martin there are a load of bear statues, (that's bear as in the animal, not as in naked you perverts!). Anyway, these bears are all individually designed to represent the 140 countries of the United Nations. They are there to represent unity and peace and are called 'Buddy Bears'.
We took a few photos of the countries we have visited on this trip, although Laos, Malaysia and Singapore weren't there.
We then went and chilled on the park grass for a couple of hours reading and thrashing Lorna at cards......again! It was a really nice spot to chill for the afternoon.
Afterwards, we took a walk back up Av. Florida (the shopping street) towards the hostel.
Saw the funniest thing on the way back. An old woman who was at least in her seventies and looked like she'd had a bit of hammer in her time - in both of the senses, if you know what I mean, Jeff. She'd got the overpowering make-up on and I'm sure had a slight slavver going off as well. And what was she advertising? .....you guessed it, the local sex shop!! I really think they need to sack their marketing manager!!
I mean, I suppose after a skinful of cerveza and Sambuca......no....not even after a bucketload of Sambuca could you even be tempted!! Although, if you were Wayne Rooney.......
After freeing my fragile little mind from the mental image of our old time sex bomb, we managed to continue on our way to the hostel.
We got our bags and had a few snacks before grabbing a taxi to the Retiro bus station.
Our bus departed at 20.35 and we were off to Puerto Iguazu. They entertained us with some all time classic 70's video music for the first hour of the journey. I'm sure you won't be able to resist singing along if I name a few....
Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive', Bee Gees 'Night Fever', Otawan's 'D-I-S-C-O', Steve Miller's 'Abracadabra', Roy Orbisons 'You Got It' and The Sweet's 'Ballroom Blitz'!! You see, I bet you sang them all didn't you?!
The videos were just sooooo cheesey!
We got served chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner and....get ready for this....free wine!!! I have never seen Lorna's eyes open so wide!!
But that was not all. For after dinner drinks we all got a huge tumbler of whiskey!!!
These Argentinean buses are brilliant. And we are only in cama class, not cama suite!!
We were then treated to the film 'The Village' before we hit the recliners for some shut eye. We don't arrive until 13.30 tomorrow, so we have a long trip ahead.
