Show trip route
We have tried to book a Tango show online but the system kept crashing, so we popped into a booking agency instead. It was still the same price through them, but they threw in a free 3 hour city tour as well (should be about £12 each). Good stuff. We will do the city tour tomorrow afternoon and the Tango dinner & show on Wednesday night - our 9th anniversary of our first date! Did the Black Death last that long?!!
Whilst at the agency, I also got details of a footy match taking place next Tuesday - River Plate versus Nacional (Uruguay) in a Copa de Libatadores game (South America's version of the Champions League). Hopefully I can get this booked later.
Next stop was the Buquebus ferry terminal to plan our trip to Uruguay. It's quite expensive to stay in Uruguay and much of the accommodation is already booked up for Friday & Saturday night! For this reason we are only stopping 3 nights in Uruguay - 2 in Montevideo and 1 in Colonia de Sacramento. We are hoping to meet an old work colleague - Celina - when we get to Montevideo.
Our ferry to Colonia de Sacramento (and subsequent bus to Montevideo) is on Friday 3rd April.
After returning to the hostel for a shower and relax, we went down to the Parque San Martin area to grab some dinner this evening.
We found a cheesey bar/restaurant called Porto Pirata. It was a bit like a TGI Friday's but all the staff were dressed as pirates. Like I say, it was really cheesey but the food was really cheap.
We both had steak & chips and it was damn good stuff. What I really like about Argentinean food is that steak & chips means steak & chips....not steak & chips and half a plate of sh*tty rabbit food (aka salad)! Meat & Chips....that's all you need!
On the way back to the hostel, I picked up some beers from the supermarket - 54p for a litre bottle!!
We then sat in the hostel common room drinking and chatting to some other backpackers that were stopping there.
