There is a nice main plaza in the centre of town and lots of nice churches. Unfortunately, the beggars are out in force round here as well. I don't mind this too much, but one woman was ridiculous. I saw her walking down the street towards us, about 50-60 yards away. She passed by many locals, but as we approached, she sat down in the street, put the sad hard done to face on, took her hat off and begged us to fill it with change! It may sound harsh, but I just had to laugh and kept walking. 10 yards further on, I turned my head and she was back up and continuing to walk down the street, probably off to the shops that she was heading to in the first place!!
We stopped for lunch at a restaurant called Pizza Napolitana Restaurant. As Lorna wasn't feeling grand, we ordered a pizza to share. Initially, I was slightly worried by this as we all know Lorna's reputation with food....and sharing it!
However, due to her aforementioned sickness issues, I won the pizza battle - 6 pieces to 2!! Brilliant. I could get used to Lorna being ill!
After dinner we went for a walk to Simon Bolivar Park - amazing how they name things after greatness - Simon is everywhere people! First I will make you speak my language, then I will take your country!!
After failing to convince Lorna that Simon was great, we headed back to the hostel for a chill out and spent the early evening watching TV. Even though Lorna is beginning to feel a bit better, she is still struggling a bit. Hopefully she can fight it all off soon.
As the loving husband that I am, I made the dinner tonight whilst Lorna lay in bed.
I can be your hero, baby........
