Happy Paddy Day
After our free pancake breakfast we decided to take a walk around the markets. I picked myself up a few bargains. Bought a digital watch for £2 which has flashing techno lights on it - wicked! Also got myself a new pair of shades as my other ones had broken. These new ones cost me £1.80 and were Hugo Boss.....honestly, genuine Hugo Boss....you don't believe me do you....well, to be fair, it actually says on the side of them - Hugo Bobs!! Just a small spelling mistake that's all!
Anyway, being as I had my trendy new watch and my designer shades, it was time for a haircut! Yeah, yeah, yeah, get all the jokes out the way, it did actually need cutting.....although not so much on top!!
We found a barbers up a side street with the gayest Bolivian barber ever seen....his shop ought to have been up the back alley really! He pranced around for a good 20 minutes cutting my hair, and get this......he even used a hairdryer on it!! That must be the first time in over 20 years that a hairdryer has been near my head!! Anyway, with a few flicks of his over limp wrists, his work was done and we were on our way again.
We decided to dine out this lunch time and got ourselves a couple of chip cobs - only about 30p each! They were just the job for lunch.
After another hour around the markets, we went back to the hostel to watch a DVD - Slumdog Millionaire - it was quite good really.
After a shower & change, we went up to the hostel bar about 7pm to have lasagne for dinner. As it was Paddy Day, they were selling green beer! Similar colour to my Malaysian pooh experience!
This version tasted a lot finer though - not that I tasted my Malaysian deposits though!!
We met up with the group of lads again and ended up entering the free jelly shot drinking contest - even the jelly shots were green!
It was all about who could drink/eat 5 shots the quickest. Of course, I didn't let the side down and won by 2 clear shots, but because I didn't put my hand up when I finished, there had to be a re-run between three of us. This obviously worked in our favour as we got 5 more free shots each! It appears the night could get messy.
We hung around the bar drinking green beer and more free shots until around midnight. Then loads of us in the bar headed off in free taxis to another bar called 'Ram Jam'. It was packed in here...you could say rammed! There was a fantastic party atmosphere and after drinking and dancing the night away, we finally fell out the door around 3.30am!
It's been a really good Paddy Day, I assume tomorrow will not be as lively. We also have a bus to catch to Sucre as well.
