Today was all about two things - preparing for tomorrow's trek and Sunday Dinners!

We popped round to the hire shop to pick up some stuff. Firstly it was the boots. In her wisdom, Lorna had decided to wash her walking shoes whilst in New Zealand....and then tumble dry them! She was then surprised to learn that they had shrunk!! There was no way she could wear them for this trek, so we hired her some - only £4 for 4 days!

Due to the cheapness, I decided to hire a pair as well. We expect heavy rains and mud on the trek, so may as well ruin their boots instead of mine!
Normally we wouldn't hire boots out as you need to bed them in, but we have to admit that these fitted really comfortably.
We also hired two proper walking sticks out for Lorna. Some of the trail includes large steps and with her stumpy legs, sticks were required! The sticks were actually pretty smart as they even had shock absorbers in them!! I think I may even give one a try en route.

We also picked up a fresh pair of thermal socks each as it will be cold up at 4200 metres in the middle of the night.

Next stop was for Lorna again. It was jumper & handbag buying time. We went down to the market and purchased said goods. It was then that we realised she had now got a matching set of clothes....all from different countries!!
They were all black & white and had an alpaca pattern on them. The hat was from Chile, the gloves from Bolivia and the jumper & socks from Peru! And they all matched! She looked like a blummin' Christmas Present!

Then it was dinner time. We went to the Real McCoy Pub (an English style place) and ordered our roast dinners. They were HUGE!! Lorna had roast chicken with roast potatoes and bacon & stuffing roll. I had roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes. Then we were served two large baking dishes, one full of cauliflower cheese and the other full of carrots & broccoli.....but wait for it....we both also got EXTRA Gravy boats!! It was absolutely fabulous and we couldn't finish it all.....that's right, even Lorna failed!
Washed down with a cold beer and with the footy on the TV, it was a perfect Sunday lunchtime.

After packing the stuff for our trek back at the hostel, we headed out to Paddy Flaherty's Irish Bar in the evening to meet up with Rod & Helen. We just had a few beers and a bit of a snack and it was great too catch up with them both again. They had been up to Machu Picchu by train and really had a great time (they've already done the Inca Trail before). We were all quite sensible tonight and it didn't turn into the mess of last Tuesday thank goodness!!

We have really enjoyed our time in Cusco and look forward to returning IF we make it through the Inca Trail!!
As we will be with nature for the next few days, the updates will have to wait until Friday.
