I expect the next three days to have little activity in them. We are going to relax in Cusco and the hostel and get things packed and ready for Monday. So, sorry if the next three entries are a bit dull for you.
After bacon & eggs at the hostel we went for a walk around the main square in Cusco and some of it's side streets. There were plenty of little markets, but they all basically sell the same sort of stuff.
On the main square we found a McDonald's and although it disappointed us to see this type of establishment in the centre of a cultural square, we have to admit they have disguised it really well. There is no big golden arches or some doped up looking Ronald McDonald anywhere. The big 'M' is actually in black hidden on the grey stone walling and when you go inside, they have tried to keep the local décor as well. So it's not as bad as seeing KFC next to the Sphinx in Giza!
Obviously, now we were in there, we decided to have a quick sample of the goods - which also passed the test.
Later on we got back to the hostel and decided to check our finances - looks like rent boy & prostitution is on the cards again!! If you want to avoid seeing us resort to such desperation, please send all donations to the Vickersontour foundation in Rainworth!!
After discussing our solicitation tactics we decided to have dinner at the hostel again. The last two nights have been really good, with Lasagne and then chilli con carne for less than £2 each. Tonight's offering was sweet & sour chicken with rice. Although not as good as the last two nights, it was still fine for a couple of quid!
Around 10.30pm a band came on at the hostel. Unbelievably, the band was called 'Berry'! Of all the goddam names to you remind you of dimwits you used to work with! (Soz Stu, but it true).
To my dismay, the band were actually brilliant. They played for over two hours and mixed it up between bands such as T-Rex, Steppenwolf, Oasis and even Bob Marley. It was a really good set and had everybody on their feet.
It was well past 1am before things started to quieten down.
A good, and unexpected, night of music.
