When we arrived at La Paz bus terminal, it was only about a 5 minute walk to our hostel - The Adventure Brew. First impressions is that it's a nice place.
Our room wasn't going to be ready until about 12.30pm, but to be fair, we didn't really have that much planned for today anyway.
We had a fry up in the hostel and then I took a walk down the street to an ATM. The ATM's here are inside glass cubicle's and you are advised to lock yourself in when withdrawing cash - nice!
I managed to survive without any major mugging or beating and returned to the hostel.
They have an enormous selection of copy DVD's here, so we chilled out on the sofa's and watched '21'. We'd seen it before, but it's a pretty good film. We also tried a bit of the free internet, but this was so slow I actually thought I was hitting the 'back' button sometimes!
When we got into our room, we found that we had three beds! A 3/4 bed and two singles - this meant we didn't have to sleep together!! Oh, how we partied!
Later in the afternoon we went up to the rooftop bar. It has some good views over La Paz. In here they were showing the Champions League (3.45pm kick off here). This made for an excellent afternoon of football and beer. They actually brew their own beer at this hostel called 'Saya' - I sampled a few for them of course. You actually get one free beer for every night you stay here as well - marvellous.
No doubt I shall be frequenting this bar tomorrow afternoon as well for the Champions League.
After the footy we got chatting to a couple called Vaughn & Vanessa (he's from New Zealand and she's from Dominica). When we told her we'd been to Dominica about 4 years ago, she wouldn't believe us. She kept saying we meant Dominican Republic. We had to describe the island to her before she finally believed us....then she got dead excited because she'd never really met anyone that had been before. Very funny.
We had the dinner that the hostel did tonight. It was Lasagne, spicy pasta and salad - it was really nice and worth every penny. The pasta was 'eat as much as you can' and I didn't disappoint!
We spent the rest of the evening chatting, playing 'sh*thead' at cards and drinking with Vaughn & Vanessa - it was a good night.
