Bit of a steady day today, after last nights antics. We got the bus to Valdivia, stopping off at the lakes on the way.
Our hostel in Valdivia was called La Casa Grande which was quite nice.

In the afternoon, most of the group went off to the market, including Lorna. They sampled some of the local seafood and skewers which Lorna said was great. She had a Canato, which is salmon with sausage, cheese & tomato served with potatoes & salad. She said it was lovely.
They also got up close and personal with some huge seals which, for some reason, they all came back doing impressions of!

Whilst they were all off at the market, three of us stayed at home.....little piggies spring to mind!
Kate just stayed collapsed in bed - I think last night hurt her a little!
Me & Colm stopped back to watch the Liverpool v Everton FA Cup replay that was being shown live (and also to keep an eye on the Forest score).
Obviously, the two of us first had to go out and buy some grub, and then find somewhere to purchase a few beers.
We had a walk towards town and actually found a Macdonald's! Now, we had promised to stay away from fast food joints whilst in Chile, but we needed a quick fix so we could get back for the match. In we went, our Spanish tongues at the ready to order. I fumbled my way through asking for a McChicken Sandwich meal with nuggets before Colm stepped in with his perfect Spanish - Big Mac.....Grande!! Completely fluent.
After dining, and filled with confidence of our ability to communicate with the natives, we walked around town looking for a supermarket. We blended in completely - as though we'd been here for years! We even stopped a few times to ask people "¿Donde esta el supermercado?" - everytime getting an answer that we had know idea what it meant!! But we were communicating at least!

We eventually found a 'supermercado' and purchased our multiple one litre bottles of Escudo, paid a miserly sum of about a pound a bottle and then headed back to the hostel.
Obviously we do not talk about the FA Cup from now on (Both Forest and Colm's team, Liverpool, lost). It's just a Mickey mouse cup anyway and there's just no pride in winning it!! (Damn those sheepsh*ggers)!

This just drove me & Colm back to the sanctuary of our Escudo bottles.
When the travelling clan returned, showers and cloth changing took place. Not with each other....we kept our own clothes.....although I do believe I would look rather fetching in Lorna's tight little denim number......but that's not for now, that is Tuesday's only.
After a change, a chill and a chat it was almost 10.30 and it was decided that the local Chinese restaurant required a visit.
The food here was fabulous and you got mounds of the stuff. Me & Lorna ordered a sweet & sour pork and a beef with green peppers. With the rice as well, you could have fed ten people with it!! Of course, ten people weren't needed to consume the lot!

After Chinese we went back to the hostel. The group had been reduced to six - Me, Lorna, Colm, Kate, Niall and Kelly. In the dorm we had a few more bevvies and discussed many topics including ghost stories, the faked moon landing and the arrival of aliens. We even turned the light off for the ghost stories! We must have looked a bunch of numpties! A good night was had though.
