After getting out of bed about 10am, we just sat outside the van for a couple off hours in the sun. We then went shopping before driving down to Miami beach and had lunch overlooking the beach and ocean - brilliant.
We ended up staying there for hours just chilling out.
As the sun went down, we went back to the park to have dinner and watch a film. Like I said earlier, a day of nothingness - great!
Tomorrow morning we head off to New South Wales. It got me to thinking, whatever happened to Old South Wales? And for that matter, where is North Wales? I only know of the one in the UK.
Also, what is Australia's fascination with Wales? In the UK we watch Afghanistan and the Gulf - in Australia they watch Wales!! Why? Do they fear World domination by our friends from the valleys & the hills? Weird.
The clocks go forward when we cross the state line as well. Lorna is happy about this as we expect to cross the line at 11am. This will immediately make it 12 noon and time for lunch!!
It's confusing having two states in line with each other on a map, but having different times! Strange.
What's also strange is a few of the Aussie words. For example, we all know a thong is what you wear as underwear, but the Aussies use this word for flip-flops! That has created a few strange conversations between us and the locals.
Also, when I was a kid, my Mum used to tell me to put my bike 'out back' near the shed. In Oz, the Outback is an area of the country. Can you imagine a poor kid over here being told to put their bike 'out back'? They'd be gone for days!!
Another one is 'stubbie'. This is what I call Phil, but over here it's a small bottle of beer! (sorry Phil, but you know it's true. By the way, are you reading this on the bog?).
Ah well, there are loads of others too, but I'm getting confused as it is - time for a stubbie out back in my thongs!
