Anyway, we had a bit of a lie in and set off for Airlie Beach about 10am. We went straight down to Airlie non-stop, arriving about 1pm. We checked into Adventure Whitsunday's Park and had some lunch. We had a wander through Airlie Beach Town afterwards. This is quite a backpacker town, although the prices aren't for backpacker's! There's a few good bars and cafe's and a big lagoon area that's free to use - we will be down here tomorrow for that.
Our campervan park is actually well set out for kids - so we were in our element. There was a big pool area with two small water slides - we shoved the kids out the way and dominated the sliding activity for a while. There was also a Jacuzzi area and giant mushroom waterfalls!
We then had a game of mini golf - again this was free. On the first hole, Lorna showed a bit of aggression and the ball ended up near the 6th tee!! After calming her down, we finished all 18 holes with a handsome victory for myself. Lorna demanded a rematch tomorrow - we shall see. There were even signs warning of crocodile's on the course - what?!
Anyway, Freda & Bob watch out, the Vickers duo are now ready to take you on anytime!!
After golf, we couldn't resist a go on the kiddies bouncing pillow - as there was no-one else on it. It a cross between a trampoline & a bouncy castle - a sort of trampo-castle or a bouncy-oline if you like. Anyway, it was childish and stupid, but it was great fun!
It was then back to the pool for more childish antics before getting showered and having some grub. We then went into the camp site kitchen/diner just as the Bond film Die Another Day was starting, so we grabbed some beer & wine and set ourselves down for the evening. Marvellous.
