Posted a few bits home, including my Canyon Swing DVD and some postcards. Then went on the internet to confirm our flight times for tomorrow - can't believe we are leaving NZ already, it has gone so fast!
Also confirmed our Inca Trail booking for next year. We are booked in to do it on the 9th March 2009. We are just awaiting our permits, but we should be OK. We have also booked in at the Loki Hostel in Cusco for a week before, so we can acclimatise. Loki Hostel was recommended to us by a girl we met in Krabi, Thailand. Really looking forward to the Inca Trail - both that and the Milford Track were two hikes that we have always wanted to do - one down, one to go!
After a quick bite to eat we decided to say goodbye to NZ in traditional Mansfield fashion and go on the lash - well it was a hot & sunny Saturday afternoon!!
First bar was Dux de Lux which brews it's own beer - brought back memories of the old Castle Brewery back home. It was great drinking beer, sat outside in the hot sunshine, listening to a live band playing - which is good they were live, I am not sure what a dead band would have sounded like - maybe like the Spice Girls, who knows! We spent a good couple of hours here.
We then remembered there was a happy hour on at The Boulevard on Oxford Terrace from 4.30 until 7.00. Off we trotted and actually arrived at the bar at 4.31pm - perfect! It was basically £1 per drink (in NZ$ of course). So I had beer and Lorna mixed wine & vodka as normal - she was only merry - honest!
We stayed here right through happy hour like true Mansfield drunkards and at 6.58pm ordered two drinks each to keep us going!!
We both really enjoyed the day as this is probably the first time we have done a proper afternoon session.
We then did the usual task of ordering a Subway and a Macky D's to soak up some beer before hunting down a Sports Bar for the rugby......it then gets blurry....
