Next stop was the 'Petrified Forest'. Now I'm not sure whether this was connected to Nottingham Forest facing an away match at Real Madrid or not, but it seemed quirky. It apparently is to do with fossilised trees and not the fear of Lorna eating it or me farting on it!
Third stop was at Nugget Point. I don't know why, but for some reason the word 'nugget' always makes me giggle - so immature! Here we got to see the 'Nugget Point Lighthouse' and all the outlying rock islands that are commonly known as the 'nuggets'! It is actually a really cool & tranquil setting.
Final stop was Roaring Bay. Apparently you have the chance to see the Yellow Eyed Penguin here. We did actually see one coming off the beach but I missed it with the camera again. However, amazingly, as we left on the bus, two penguins just stood there are the road not letting us past! We got some great photos, and to be fair I think they loved the attention!!
We finally bribed our way by the penguins by promising not to cover them in chocolate and made our way to the Leviathan Hotel in Dunedin. Six of us shared an 8 bed dorm, Claire & Fiona from Scotland, Rebecca from Northern Ireland and Harrison from the US.
It was decided to go out for a few bevvies tonight, so we hit Dunedin with full force. We hit a 70's bar, a Drum & Bass club, a traditional style pub and a Sports Bar. It was at the Sports Bar that we discovered they were showing the Arsenal v Man Utd game at 1.45am. Me & Tom (from Stoke) decided this was our final resting place and stayed here until 4am whilst everyone else went back to the hotel at about 3.
When we arrived back at the hotel, we hung around the Bar & TV room until about 5am before finally crashing.
