I was up at 9am this morning, but movement from the other bunk was not apparent until about 11am. A shower and a few games on the PSP passed the time.
After a toast breakfast - that's right, not bacon - we made up some sandwiches and headed out for the day. We walked through the city and to the lower cable car terminal. We jumped aboard and we were off to the top of some steep hill that overlooks Wellington. It wasn't the speediest ascent I have experienced, in fact, I think I needed another shave by the time we reached the top - and so did Lorna!
At the top, we went into the Cable Car Musodn;.,.......sorry, fell asleep just trying to say it......the cable car museqrm,.........sorry, did it again. Let's just say, a place full of historical facts about the cable car.....yawn.....o-oh, I'm going again.......slap, slap!........ah, that's better. Apologies. After the 'you-know-what', we decided to walk down to the harbour front via the botanical gardens and stuff. We could then have our lunch half way.
The walk back took about 90mins, but that included all our stopping & starting. We grabbed lunch whilst we were in Succulent Garden - it seemed appropriate. After lunch, we went through the threatened species garden. I wondered if we would see any lime green pooh in here, but, alas, no. However, if Lorna doesn't stop nagging me about getting some new flip flops, she's gonna find herself in here, very soon!!
Next we had a wander through Camellia's valley - there was lots of bush and it was kinda smelly! Again, very appropriate! Lol. Sorry Cam.
We then had to walk through a graveyard. It was called Bolton Memorial Ground - I didn't know Bolton was dead, although I suppose it's hard to tell the difference up there. Mind you, whilst they've got Megson as manager, they're as good as dead anyway!
After finally making it to the harbour promenade, we took the long walk along the waters edge back to the hostel. I tried to push Lorna onto a boat that was marked "Antarctica", but she out wrestled me. She then said she didn't care if she had got sent to Antarctica as she had the bag with the sweets and water in!...........really?.........then I thought she came to her senses because she said it wouldn't work because the ice in the water bottle would freeze!........the ICE would freeze?! How does that happen? Sometimes I weep for the future! As soon as she had said it, she realised what she'd said, but it was still pretty funny.
We popped into the post office to send off our insurance claim for the lime green pooh incident as well today. Dunno if we will get anything, but we shall see. We grabbed some food from the supermarket to take with us to Abel Tasman National Park tomorrow and went back to the hostel to pack.
We managed to Skype my sister Claire this evening. She filled us in on the happenings and craziness going off in Malta at the moment. We also threatened her with a promise to come and stay with them at the end of our current travels. She went a little pale, but we know she's excited about the prospect of me f*rting in her spare bedroom! Go on Claire, you can't deny it!
We cooked a curry tonight in the hostel kitchen. It was great. The smell throughout the kitchen was cool as well - although, probably not for everyone!
Back in our dorm, we were joined by three young female students for the night....oh happy days.....oh happy days!! Only kidding. (Mother-in-laws reading this!). They had got themselves all geared up for a night out and, with all their sprays & perfumes, the dorm stunk like some sort of cheap whorehouse....yes, it stunk like Brocko's house!!
Revenge will be mine tonight and tomorrow. I intend to have a bit of a flatulence issue this evening after my curry, so that should be waiting to welcome them home later - I hope they have strong stomach's. Also, we have to be up at 6am, so some accidental dropping of heavy objects may be on the agenda!! Sorry, that's just nasty. I will behave myself completely.
