Didn't wake up until 1.30pm today!! Damn time difference.
By the way, we are currently 12 hours ahead of the UK, but that will become 13 on October 26th when the UK turns their clocks back an hour.
After finally dragging ourselves out of our very comfortable bed, we had a walk over to the Sky Tower. This is apparently the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere. We had also acquired some vouchers giving us 10% off the entrance fee which was cool. Talking of cool - it's freezing here! Well, not freezing exactly, but 16 degrees Celsius! Better than spring time in the UK (it's Spring here in NZ), but a lot colder than the 30 degree heat we have been used to for the last 4 months!! Brrrrrr.
Anyway, we went up the Sky Tower and we've got to say, there are some brilliant views from up here. It was a pretty clear day, so we could see the whole city and all the volcano islands just off the sure. Funny actually, they do have lots of adverts on the tv reminding you to always have a survival pack put away just in case a volcano erupts!! Comforting thoughts.
Near the top of the tower (about 192 metres up) you had the option of jumping off if you want. Obviously you are attached to a cable. Would be a bit harsh for them to encourage you to pay to jump off, then not give you a cable to attach to!!
Anyway, I was definitely up for this and even Lorna was tempted, but they were trying to charge NZ$195 each to do it!! That's about £80 - EACH!! Bugger that!
Anyway, Lorna was getting too scared in the tower as it was. In the lift that goes up to the top, it has a glass bottomed floor - and Lorna was not impressed with this. She kept shouting at me for standing on the glass part! Also, there were glass floored parts on the floor if the tower at the top - so you could see right the way down. It was so funny when Lorna was walking across them - she was holding on to the rail so tight that her hands were going blue!! Then some kid was jumping up and down on the glass in front of her - I thought she was going to pick the kid up and literally throw him off the tower!! This was obviously a child that she was not interested in stealing!!
After the tower experience, we took a walk around the local area of Auckland before heading back to our studio for about 7pm. After chilli con carne we chilled in front of the tele. We are both still not 100% and we haven't even had a drink (alcoholic) since the 1st October!
Also, found out England game wasn't being shown live at 5.15am our time, but highlights would be shown at 10am. As this was only 3 hours after the final whistle, it wasn't too bad - and I didn't have to get up so early as well!
