As mentioned before, the bus arrived into Bangkok at about 7am. It dropped us off at Khao San Road, but we went round the corner to Rambuttri street as we didn't want to stay right on Khao San.
Lorna was in charge of accommodation hunting this time. First one we went to wanted 800 Baht a night! (about £13). We don't pay those sort of prices now we are getting more used to travelling. We aim for 400 Baht a night!
The second place we liked was full - pity coz it looked quite nice. But, Lorna got third time lucky. She found this place called Four Sons Village that was within budget and we automatically got air con, cable tv, hot shower and a balcony - all luxuries to a skint backpacker!
The guesthouse was really good and clean though so its a big "Well Done" to Lorna on this one. The extra bonus was that we could get in the room straight away at 8am
We slept until about 12 but then I was woken up by Lorna's belly rumbling - I assume it was her belly, and not her backside talking to me!!
So we talk a walk down Khao San and found a bar that did big baguettes - just what I needed! And a Chang Beer of course.
We then took a walk round a few travel agents for a bus to Phuket. We have decided to stay in Bangkok for 2 nights, but time is getting really short now. The extra time we spent in Vietnam, in Vang Vieng and in Chiang Mai is catching up with us now so we are going to have to cut out 3 islands. Our new, shortened, itinerary will hopefully get us to Singapore in time for our flight to New Zealand. We are going to just do Phuket, Ko Phi Phi, Ko Lanta, Krabi, Langkawi, Kuala Lumpur and then Singapore.
After spending the day exerting zero energy, we decided to keep up that trend and go back to our room and watch a film - easy times!!
In the evening we went to a restaurant on KSR and had Stir Fried Noodles in Soy Sauce with Chicken, whilst Lorna had Sweet & Sour Chicken. It was good grub and really cheap - nice! We downed a few bevvies on Khao San before ending up in Hippie de Bar. This was a very chilled bar this evening but it did jog my memory back to the last time we were in Bangkok 2 months ago. I was absolutely leathered in this bar and probably made an absolute arse of myself! I couldn't be sure, but I am sure the staff recognised me and then hid!!
Anyway, we got back to the room at about 1.30am in time for the Marseilles v Liverpool champions league game - which I fell asleep watching! Oh well, Liverpool won......I think!
