Had a bit of a lie in this morning due to last nights American Football extravaganza. Didn't rise until 11.30am, but it's not a problem, it's not like I had to go to work or anything!!
As it was nearly lunchtime, we bombarded a poor innocent street seller for a couple of chicken baguettes. We were quite hungry, so to her we probably looked like a couple of extras from the film "28 Days Later"! Poor woman! We then sat eating (I use that word loosely) the baguettes at the side of the road. I am sure some of the tourists thought they had stumbled across the new Luang Prabang Zoo!!
We then decided to walk up Phu Pi Hill to see a few temples and the view......we got half way, got bored, complained there was no escalator and proceeded back to the bottom! Well....we've seen loads of temples anyway!
I don't know if you've worked it out yet, but today we just couldn't be a*sed - again
We headed back to our guesthouse, via the ice cream stall and crashed. Lorna went out onto the communal balcony whilst I watched a re-run of Murray v Nadal in the US Tennis Open. Got to admit he played really well but the yanks are so fickle! They were cheering for Nadal all the way through....until they realised that Murray was going to win....and then started cheering for him!! What are they....Italian?! See who's winning and then pick them!! Typical.
Overall though (we are back from the soap box now) Luang Prabang has been most enjoyable. I know most people come here to do elephant riding and trekking, but we are doing all that in Chiang Mai. In fact, we have done plenty in China & Vietnam. No, Luang Prabang to us has been a lovely tranquil town where we have been able to doss around watching tv and save ourselves a bit of cash - just what we needed.
It was nice to stay here, and the time has gone really fast, but it's back to Thailand now.....on Laos Airlines!! God help us.....
