This morning we jumped on our bus to visit the Ben Dinh versiuon of the Cu Chi tunnels. This place was amazing. The way they created the tunnels and how they lived down there was something out of this world.
We got the opportunity to go through about 100 metres of the tunnels as well which was absolutely amazing. This was a really good and informative visit and well worth the time.
The only funny thing was that I was wearing my very American DC United football top and, as this place is very big on government propaganda, every corner we turned and everything we saw in the documentary was about killing Americans! I was trying to make it clear all the time that I was English!! The former soldiers of the Viet Cong were described as American Killer Heroes!
After we returned to HCMC in the afternoon, I decided that I would risk a Vietnamese haircut. Now bear in mind that my hair is not of a vast amount anyway, it was a risk that I could lose the whole lot in the next 30 minutes. I told the barber to give me a grade 3 just like Father Trev does. Not understanding what I was talking about, I just held up 3 fingers and he got the idea. But he scraed the sh*t out of me! He used two different sets of clippers, two different sets of scissors and even a cut-throat blade to trim the edges!! I didn't know there was that much hair up there to use all them tools. I could see the blood draining from my face in the mirror as he picked up the sharp blade!! I thought the end was near as all the best moments of my life passed before my very eyes....Forest winning a game, The Stag Weekend, The Hot Tubs........oh, and of course my Wedding day and all that! After he finished cutting, the barber then put some other vibrating contraption on his hand and started massaging my head with it! I think this was to try and encourage the hairs to start growing again. Afterwards, he told me I had a grade 3 at the back and a grade zero on top - git!!
Finally, we went to the supermarket to pick up some snacks for tomorrows 8 hour bus journey to Dalat. Then it was back to the hotel to shower and change.

Head massage - bring back the hair!
! With all these booby traps that were around us I thought I might have to take my top off to be safe! However, I am not sure that Vietnam is ready to witnessed the stunning physique that was hidden beneath. I also don't think there was enough room in the tunnels for me to get the gut out - so I took my chances and left the shirt on! I made it out alive you may, or may not, be pleased to hear!!After we returned to HCMC in the afternoon, I decided that I would risk a Vietnamese haircut.
