Today we got up, headed for the number 11 bus and set off to the Water Park.
It was ACE.
We went on all the slides like a pair of big kids!! There was no fear - even when the shorts were impaled into the rear end during the Kamikaze Run!!
Water was swallowed, knees were bumped, breath was taken and little foreign kids were kicked - all in a days work at a water park!
We spent most of the day here before heading back to the hotel to meet the new troop.
THEN WE HAD THE SCARIEST MOMENT OF OUR ENTIRE TIME ON TOUR!!!!
We arrived into the lobby of our tour hotel and was given a list of names to go through and to add our insurance details next to our names. First on the list...Simon Vickers....all was well. Second on the list...Lorna Vickers...that seemed pretty easy. I then took a quick glance further down the list and at number three was.....SUSAN DAVIES..............OH MY GOD, the mother-in-law was on the same trip as us!! I could feel the blood pouring out of my eyes......the sharp hot poker pain spearing into the back of my neck!! What could I do? How could I get out of the country? My only hope was using the Cu Chi tunnels to escape underground....but we weren't going there until Thursday....3 DAYS AWAY! How would I survive? It appeared that all was lost but then the Lord obviously took sympathy on me and sent a 23 year old Australian with the name Susan Davies into the lobby instead. The relief was immense...everything seemed so rosy again....the trees seemed greener, the sky bluer, the beer cheaper....my happiness had returned and my worries had disappeared. Phew!
We were then introduced to all the team except one as he was arriving a couple of days later.
We had :
Michael & Desley from Australia
Peter & Donna from Australia (heading to Germany - boo!)
Chris from London
Charlotte from New Zealand (although she is currently living in Japan)
Susan from Australia
and
Yasmin from Australia
This evening we went to a Vietnamese restaurant and had Chicken Curry, Cat Fish and Beef in Coconut - it was absolutely gorgeous. We also consumed many Cinnamin Wine shots to help the food go down!
After this we headed to the Eden Bar to down a few beers. The owner of the bar said we were really loud which was good for his business, so he brought us some free shots!! All is good in Vietnam!!
As my legs started to get a little bit rubbery we headed back to the hotel ready for our trip[ to the Mekong Delta tomorrow.
