Got up this morning and had a great big juicy fat fry up that will probably kill me within the hour!
We hired a Tuk Tuk for the day this morning. Basically we wanted him to take us to The Killing Fields, The riverside and then to the supermarket. Paid him $10 for the day which was pretty good.
It took about 40 minutes to get to the killing fields. They were a lot smaller than I had imagined but that didn't hide the chilling and haunting nature of the place. It was weird to see somewhere so tranquil that could cover such a horrible history! We spent just over an hour here and then got the Tuk Tuk back to the riverside.
All we wanted to do at the riverside was confirm our bus tickets for Ho Chi Minh city in the morning. After this was done we headed to the supermarket to pick up some snacks for the journey.
We dropped back in at the guesthouse to pack, then headed out for dinner.
We ate at "The Wanderer" tonight - spag bol and chilli. That's two seperate dishes of course, not sapg bol and chilli on the same plate - although it would be interesting! It was good grub made even better by the fact that I was washing it down with Klang Beer (a recommendation from Webby), a 7% beer that was only costing me 37p!! Nice!
Next we headed to the Lazy Gecko Bar only to find out that they were in the middle of Quiz Night!! Lorna actually looked excited - I obviously don't give her enough things to do as we travel so she has to look forward to quiz nights! It was an American based quiz though so it was pretty easy as you can imagine!! The bonus to this bar was that double vodka cokes & double vodka redbulls were $1 all night long - get in! Obviously after a few of these I was starting to heckle the quiz master in true Bird in Hand form!!
I'm not sure anyone could make out exactly what I was saying, but it was funny to me. Lorna also tried to pretend she wasn't drunk....but failed miserably!!!
So the early night got forgotten and we expect a tired journey on the bus in the morning!!
