We arrived into Sihanoukvville at about lunchtime. We decided to go for a place right on the beach at Serendipity Beach. The place was called Tranquillity Guesthouse and we literally had to walk 10 paces from our room to the bar, and 10 more paces and we were on the beach. No lifts or stairs, just right there on the edge. This is exactly what we wanted for the next 4 days. Two things were needed to complete the perfection, sun & alcohol.....and that's where the trouble started.
It was raining today, and had been for the last week. This was a bit of a bogger, but it was still hot and you could still go in the sea. However, this was not part of the master plan. (As it happens, we ended up with 2 and a half days of full sunshine, but we weren't to know this at the time!). Then the big problem hit us....ALL ALCOHOL WAS BANNED FOR THE WEEKEND DUE TO THE ELECTIONS! Even the shops couldn't sell it! Maybe a detox was needed, but it was still a difficult time for us.
In the evening we had a lovely meal in the restaurant on the beach. We had some vodka left from Phnom Penh, so we were sneaking that into our coke & redbull through the night!
So it wasn't too bad tonight, but we were now out of vodka for tomorrow!!
