I told you that the next few days would be boring blog time....
We didn't get out of the hotel until lunch time. We had a walk down the shopping mall and to the bakery. After making up some sandwiches we found a nice quiet park in the middle of the city. It was really peaceful, so we sat and ate and read a bit in the afternoon sun....it's great not being at work!! That's just for anyone at Cap1 who might get bored and read this blog!....if there's any of you left that is!! Come on Wilson, keep 'em together!
It's actually nice to have some relaxing time. The China tour has been really fast paced stuff and it's amazing to think how much we have done in the last four weeks. It's is now time to chill out for 5 or so days before we hit Thailand.
China ia a fantastic country to visit. There is so much history and tradition here and there is so much to see. Highlights have been The Great Wall, Terracotta Warriors, Yellow Mountain, Pingyao, Beijing, Shanghai and romantic karaoke with a random Chinese guy! All in all, I am so glad that we have started our world travels in this diverse country.
As for the people of China, well, I will try to be diplomatic, but it's a bit hard! 80% of the people we have met in China have been rude, obnoxious, self-centred, inconsiderate individuals....which is why I have fitted in perfectly. Lol. Seriously though, they are a very selfish race, but that may just be their culture. The problem is, the other 20% of the population, are probably the nicest people I have ever met!! (By the way, can you see that I have not lost my analytical skills - 80% plus 20% equals 100% - still got it!). This 20% just want to chat and have a laugh with you, which is great. Maybe we just got unlucky, but this was a feeling that was common throughout our tour group. I hope we were just unlucky and really it is 80% of the people who are nice really. This is a great country, and although there are a lot of government restrictions, the people of China should still be proud that so many foreigners want to visit.
As for Geckos Adventures, well I was not impressed I'm afraid. The tour guide that we had was exceptional, but the organisation, itinerary and information from Geckos themselves was of a very poor standard. I have already paid for a trip with them in Vietnam and I am hoping their record improves....we shall see. Luckily, due to our excellent guide, the overall trip to China was a great success and I am so happy, and proud, to have completed this month long adventure. Let's just hope they let us out now!
One country done, and didn't get deported....good work Vickers!
