We arrived in Suzhou at about 6.30am this morning. We had a wash and some croissants at our hotel (The Jinjiang Inn). Then at 8.30am, we were off on a morning bike ride that took us up to Tiger Hill and then back along the canal. It was a nice ride, but not a patch on Yangshou or Pingyao.
Lorna absolutely destroyed her bike. We took half an hour to leave the bike shop because she broke the seat. Then on route her right pedal fell off so the bike was limping for most of the way. And finally, about a mile from the shop, she decided to get a puncture!! She then had the nerve to jump off the back when we passed the hotel and made the tour guide walk it back to the shop for her! Bloody slave driver!
There were no internet cafes around, so we decided to catch up on some much needed sleep in the afternoon as we will be in Shanghai tomorrow morning.
In the evening we went for a bit of chinese food and ended up with braised beef and potatoes - but spicy style and some sweet and sour pork. It was lovely. We then went for a walk down the canals. These looked great coz all the canalside was lit up with lanterns. It was quite romantic really....we even nearly kissed...but then came to our senses and realised we were married!!
