After breakfast we jumped on the shuttle bus to Heathrow Airport. This cost us 4GBP EACH!!! This is costing a fortune already. At this rate we will be back in a fortnight. Anyway, this took about 15 minutes for us to get to Terminal 2. This was of great use to use bearing in mind that we needed to get to Terminal 4! We were advised we would therefore have to board a shuttle train to terminal 4. They keep using this would shuttle, but I am not sure they have fully understood the meaning of the word! Then came the biggest surprise of our journey so far....the shuttle train was FREE, yes FREE! After recovering from some sort of hysterical spasm, I picked myself up and boarded the FREE train still awaiting some sort of catch, like we would end up in Blackpool or something....and trust me, no-one wants to go to Blackpool coz Brocko is from there!
Finally at Terminal 4 we got checked in 2 and a half hours before departure and managed to get 2 seats together next to a window. Strange that you always seem to ask for a window seat, yet for 11 hours of a 12 hour flight all you get to see is bloody cloud! We obviously had tried to get better seats, but no matter how much we begged, we were eventually made to sit next to each other.....oh well, hopefully she will fall asleep for the whole flight!
As it happens, when we got on the plane, it wasn't full, so we asked if there was a bank of three seats together on their own that weren't being used - there was. So we bagged these seats and were able to spread out a lot more during the flight - stretchability baby! The flight went pretty smoothly, it took 11.5 hours and we travelled 6500 miles in total. We got an evening meal of some sort of Chicken even stranger than what you would get at the Bird and a breakfast that looked like it had already been digested - twice! As it happens it didn't taste too bad, which bodes well for the food that I am expecting to be eating over the next 12 months.
During the flight I slept, played crazy golf (on the interactive system of course, not down the aisles and in the cock pit!!), (hee hee hee, I used the word cock in my blog - sad), watched Mr Bean, Little Britain and The Bucket List film and also snuck out a few silent air biscuits! It's amazing how you can get away with these on a plane!
It was my birthday during the flight, but alas, I did not receive my Mile High Birthday Present that I had been whimpering on about for the previous six hours, so I left the stewardesses alone and went and sat back with the Wife!
All in all though, a most satisfying flight.
