So as I type this I am at work on a temp assignment just out of the city centre of Dublin in the "suburb" of Sandymount. I have a reception role for a small company by the seaside, so although it is pretty here it is bloody freezing and I don't really get to stay outside long to enjoy it!

The job is slow and I am not sure if this is just because it is the start of the new year and business are just starting to catch up with things, or if they really do want to pay someone all day to sit here and occasionally answer the telephone and enter the incoming and outgoing mail onto a spreadsheet?? Hmmm... interesting. Its saving grace is that I am allowed to go on the internet all I want when I don't have stuff to do. So all of you people out there that I have not managed to contact lately, perhaps I will now get in touch!

The past weekend Max and I made our way out to Sandymount to to a test run for my temp assignment to see how long it would take to get out here. I hadn't used the DART (light rail) system since arriving in Dublin and hadn't been to the sea, so we thought it would be a nice opportunity. Little did we know, or consider, that it was minus bloody 3 degrees outside and probably colder by the sea. It was still lovely and pretty and we enjoyed the walk around, but talk about freeze our asses off!

Max started his serious Dublin job search yesterday. He lined up for the minimum 1.5hrs it takes at the local social welfare office to apply for his PPS number and then started his on foot process of knocking on agencies doors. A few let him in luckily, but no leads yet.

We are toying with the idea of moving out of Dublin, we both aren't overly chuffed with the city and the constant dodging of people as you try and make your way down O'Connell Street, as no other bugger is going to get out of your way or apologise for running into you!! I think that quite a few of them purposely don't move and try to run you down - well that is how it seems a lot of the time. We are going to make a long weekend trip to Galway this weekend to check the town out and see what it might have to offer us both job and lifestyle wise. We are also considering Cork, but will just have to wait and see. I'm excited to have something to look forward to this weekend.

This temp assignment looks like it will roll over into next week and possibly even a few weeks after that, so I will have to see how all that goes as well.
