Where I stayed
El Castell Motel - $56 with coupon. Nice. Close to beach. Bkfst
The funny thing about checking in, is that the receptionist is a total b'stard (rude, incorrect in all ways) and is a vivid imitation of Mr. Fawltey of Fawltey Towers...excellent fun. The motel however is owned by Indians and they were very polite...they just hired a twat for reception!
Anyway, after a short rest we had a long walk around Monterey which is a delightful colonial styled village, with its fisherman's wharf and old spanish houses, and spanish street names. Very nice.
In the evening we walked to the "Mucky Duck" pub which serves "traditional english pub grub"...and local beer. It was actually the cheapest pint we found in US at $3 the pint for Sierra Nevada blonde. Around 9pm Katie (a good old friend) appeared and we had a long catch up.
