The sun had come out, and the motorways that had been closed the days before because of the floodings have reopened. We decided to go into Chicago around 11, avoiding the rush hours.
We had to pick up the new car in the centre and then go to the airport with 2 cars in order to return the old car.
Everything went smoothely. We could pick up the new car before our scheduled time, and did not even need to pay the dreaded parking fee of 6 Dollars per 20 minutes, as one of us was always waiting outside in the car
We then decided to hit the road for North and make as many kilometers (or miles) as possible. We passed Wisonsin, not without stooping in the information center, and the man there greeted us in German! Then, in Milwaukee, we saw so many German signs, and advertising about their local Oktoberfests, so it must be a German settlement.
Just around dawn we hit the little town of Marinette, right at the border from Wisconsin to Michigan. We found a little Motel for $52 Dollars, clean and good. Dinner was a bit of a killer, as we tried to order a salad and pasta, and it turned out to be the fattest and greasiest salad and lasagne ever - man, no wonder Americans are so big, when even the salads have about 5000 calories!
Anyway, diet time, and with our new trainers we hope to turn some of those calories into a good jog!
