After a quiet but sadly expensive night in a shitty roadsite motel outside Montreal, we decided to move on towards the west, leaving Montreal unvisited behind. It seemed like a modern city from the outside.

The good thing though was a breakfast place just across the road, it turned out to be a boulangerie Paris style!!!! What a TREAT!!! Croissant, Pain au chocolat (which they call "chocolatine" there), crusty fresh baguette, French salami, fresh salads, chocolates, pralines, tarts (that is "little cakes" ). It was like being back in France, just the accent of the girls behind the counter did not match!

We always thought our French was good, but they had trouble understanding us and vice versa. Canadian French is very different, and they do use different words. Finally the woman tried some English, and it was shocking how bad it was, with the border of USA and Ontario just being a few kilometers away. By the way, we are back in the metric system, kilometers and kilos all around :) !

We moved along the motorway until we got to Kingston, a little town and the edge of lake Ontario. Desperately trying to get some information and a little map, we gave up soon and just continued driving along a country road along at the lake, looking for a picnic place to enjoy this lovely French baguette we bought. Our intention given the lack of information was just to get to English speaking land asap!

We found one lovely spot at the lake side, and oposed the strong wind, clung to our bags and sandwich, and enjoyed this wonderful picnic we brought.

Then we got lost yet again along the road... and what a blessing in disguise it was! We contiued along the lake side, and suddenly the road ended! But, as always, the travel gods were with us. The moment we wanted to turn around, a guy from a ferry was shouting to us, telling us that he gave us a free ride on the ferry!

We asked where it went, and he said, "this is the continuation of the road to Toronto". On we hopped. Bizarrly, he also decided to clean our car window...and then he pulled a map out, showed us where we were, showed us where campings were located, and left the map with us! He reinstalled all our faith in Canadian service attitude! So friendly! Strangely enough...that is where French Quebec ended and English Canada starts!

So, we landed on this very beautiful penisula of Prince Edward County, and we are now updating in the library of its little capital, Picton. There are loads of campings here, and we landed in the camping at the bay of the peninsula. The lake is so big, you cannot see the other side, and it gives the impression of being at the seaside, with sandy beaches etc.

So, we pitched our tent and did a bit of shopping for dinner, plus we purchased a new camera, as the old one died in Quebec city!! Enjoy wonderful quality pictures!

That is all for today, Cheerio!
