Little to comment on our trip from Argentina back to Santiago apart from:
- the bus was 2 hours late to pick us up
- it took everyone 3 hours to pass the Argentinian - Chilean frontier
- we went back chatting with Chileans and Argentinians who just adore to chat with foreigners who can speak Spanish. Half of them had German origins, the other half Spanish!

We will be in Santiago for the next few days planning our next Phase of the trip, but especially sleeping and not bothering about looking for hotels, restaurants or transport!

We will update the page in a couple of days once we have a "Reisenplan" (travelplan).

Crisis in Northern South America
Indeed the 'oven is hot' in the Ecuador - Colombia - Venezuela area (especially between Colombia and Venezuela), but these 2 last countries were not in our original 'reiseplan' as they were already quite insecure without the potential of war.

It seems these crisis happen every other year and then nothing happens. The reality is that their economies are so interconnected it would be suicide to go to war. Colombia hasnt even sent troops to the border as they feel Chavez just wants to do another of his TV superstar shows.

Our plan is to fly from Ecuador to Panama. The bus trip through Colombia was always out of the question.

In any case we will keep a good eye on the press. Strangely not much news appears on local TVs here (including CNN in Spanish, BBC, etc). All news goes to Clinton-Obama contest, so seems like no one thinks a war is a real possibility.
