However that meant being up at 6.30am and without coffee (the horror!) we went off riding with our friendly guide for an hour and a half. Believe us, after 2 days horse riding our backsides where more pain than confort! But it was a great ride, and few gallops, including along ride along the eucalyptus forrest.
After a great breakfast (the last one!) and our taxi driver not appearing, we arranged for another taxi and got the first bus in direction to Ciudad del Este. Somehow the 2 hour trip turned into nearly 4 with constant stops, but it gave us some good time to sleep.
We arrived at Ciudad del Este which everyone, including our travel guide said was a horrible little town - which it has turned out to be more or less. It is like a huge bazar of electronics shops and street sellers, but in every corner there are private armed guards (pharmacies, banks, larger shops). When we say "armed" they have weaponry up to their teeth...and that just makes it very uncomfortable to walk around.
So we decided to have a quick lunch, in a place where it said "Fast Food" but it seems to slow down after it has been killed. Anyway, one newspaper after waiting for the Paraguayan burger and fries we bought some fruit, water and returned to the hotel. Dinner will be in hotel restaurant, Austrian owned as the names states. Veronika has been chatting with the ownerfor information most of the afternoon.
It will be an early day tomorrow as we want to get over into Brasil early. There is a mass of people daily wanting to cross the bridge and the Paraguayan newspapers state that the Brasilian authorities are clogging it up. We will probably read the contrary version on the other side!
