Don Otto - Patagonia buses

Sunday, February 10, 2008

The longest trip yet awaits us today...20 hours bus ride from Trelew to Buenos Aires. Its over 1,500 kilometres, and although the roads are paved they are slow with lorries, etc. The bus is "semi-bed" which is quite comfortable and we have organised ourselves with sleeping bags, food, etc... Off we go at 2.30pm today and arrive around 10.30 am in Buenos Aires.

We attach a few photographs of a magnificent wall painting which we bumped into. Its suprisingly the decoration of the bus company "Don Otto" and in about 100 metres of wall it has the history of Argentina (with references to the big events worldwide) from 1930 to 2006. The quality was supperb so we took quite a few pictures.

We had breakfast at the "Touring Club" which has been around since 1906 and its hotel was visited by quite a few famous ones such as "Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid" when they escaped from USA, "Saint Exupery" and a long list of politicians.

Final picture of the day is the title in the local newpaper with regards to the Davis Cup tennis match in witch Argentina eliminated Great Britain (the powerful tennis nation...not). The title says "English Go Home" even though it was Great Britain playing. I guess it must be a big clash stating they are all "Welsh" and then saying "British Go Home"... Anyway "Dont mention the war"...(Faulty Towers - John Cleese).
