Where I stayed
West Wood Park B&B
Usual 8.30am full english in the farm library. Lovely little farm to stay a night or two and explore the surroundings.
I started my walk at 9am and continued swiftly until the highest hill today (403 metres).
The sun was strong all day long, allowing me to walk without my fleece for the first time in the trip. Even then I was still sweating away...
Apart from 1 stop the hydrate and dry my t-shirt a bit, I made it to Welshpool at 2pm with full intention of making a visit to Powis Castle which had been very much recommended
As internet did not work properly last night I couldn't check where my BB was in Welshpool, although I knew it was in the centre. Sadly I walked all the way to the end to fin out it was right at the start on a parallel street! But it was still 2pm so more than sufficient time to get to the castle.
Powis Castle is a 2km walk from the town along a deer park. Well worth the visit.
I even bought myself 5 pounds of National Trust raffle tickets (10 thousand pound prize) and had a long chat with the old man selling them. Now that is a spending day!
I'm now sitting at the Castle entrance, surrounded by peacocks and tasting a delicious welsh cider.
No idea where dinner will be, but I think the chippie might just win tonight!
