I arrived in Melbourne International Airport at 9 am. It was indeed a long flight. First thing that I did after collecting my baggage was to have my shower at the airport itself. Amenities are very well placed in the airport for guests. The reason for this was that I can only get my room after 2 pm but I had arranged for a tour service to fetch me at the hotel at around 11 am and as such, I would not have much time to freshen up myself and this is the only opportunity.

Immigration and customs clearance was a breeze. They randomly check baggages and mine was exempted. After getting myself freshened up, I head outside to catch the airport bus heading to the city. I had pre purchased the tickets online which cost me AUD 20 for a return ticket and that was very convenient too.

The weather at this time of the year was not too cold as it was moving from winter to summer and it can be quite erratic at times. When I was out of the airport, it was around 20 Celsius.

Got on the bus and it took us to the city center in around 25 minutes. This is the cheapest mode of transport to the city. Taxi's are expensive here and it would have easily cost me around AUD 55 .

Once in the city, there was a free hotel transfer service provided by this airport bus company. I had to walk over to their counter and mention my hotel name and a small van would take passengers and drop them off one at a time at their respective hotels.

For me, I was the last to be dropped off and I reached the hotel at 10.00 am. I checked in but there was no rooms ready yet for me. Hence I left my baggage there, grabbed my jacket and camera from the luggage and started venturing out around the CBD until it was time for me to be picked up at my hotel.

The CBD is very interesting. I was told that it is bustling during office hours but after office hours and during weekends, none of the shops and restaurants are open and hence I was starving and there was no place where I could even get a coffee or a simple breakfast.

I did not venture out too far as within about 30 minutes after the check in process, the tour bus was there to pick me up. I booked this tour online from Malaysia. Today, my destination is to Phillip Island and I am expected to return back to the hotel only around midnight. This company was the cheapest I could find online and it is called Wildlife Tours Australia run by a small family.

The buses too are not too big and it is limited to around 12 people only. Just the right size and this tour today cost me AUD 90. Thats a decent price for almost a full day tour and dinner is included.

The driver cum tour guide called John got down from the bus, greeted me and verified my documents just to ensure that it was me that had booked the tour. With that, we set off on the tour for the day.
