This is my favorite part from the day's feast, the chariot procession which would take the idol around the entire town and there would be hundreds of people following the chariot on foot and hundreds more making offerings as the chariot passes their homes.

The event starts around 5 pm at the temple where the evening prayers are conducted and then the idols are brought to circulate the temple on a palanquin. Then, it is put up on the chariot and then the processions begins by heading to the northernmost part of the town and then heading down into the city and then crossing borders into the state of Selangor covering the town of Hulu Bernam and then back to the temple.

All throughout there would be fireworks displays, people offering food and drinks to the followers of the chariot, loads of devotees breaking coconuts and giving their offerings both in terms of items that could be used later on in the temple as well as cash donations.

It is fun yet a very tiring experience. As for this year, by the time we arrived back at the temple, it was just pass midnight and the final prayers marking the closure of the ceremony was performed. It was surely tiring for me too but I never fail to participate in this every year.

By the time we were home, it was close to 2 am and I have to get some sleep as I would be heading back to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
