This little township was not built until the 1990's. This was more of a food town where there are loads of eateries which are individual owned that have opened here, unlike atop the mountains where it all belongs to the Lim Goh Tong family or shall I say, Genting Group.

Well, the main reason this town was opened was to set up a memorial after the founder of this place past away, Mr. Lim Goh Tong who is one of the top 3 richest people in Asia and top 10 richest people in the world. It was set up by his family.

Today, there are loads of other activities that have come up here over the years which includes some private schools, colleges, strawberry park, budget hotels and many restaurants.

One of my favourite restaurants here is called Ratha Curry House, previously known as Raub Fish Head Curry Restaurant. The food here is excellent. The spices are a secret and the taste is simply great. Their first outlet was in the town of Raub in Pahang and there they had gained popularity even with the Royal family.

Today, although they have only two outlets, one being in Raub and the other being here, yet their spices export business is doing very well. The main food to try at this restaurant is of course, as the name states, Fish Head Curry, Mutton Peratel, Mutton Varuval, Chicken Gravy and the whole load of curries. The price, is surely not cheap but not expensive too. A banana leaf meal would cost around RM 12, and this is including a plate of either chicken or mutton. RM 12 works to about USD 4. That's not too bad for a meal although by Kuala Lumpur standards it is expensive, we this is a resort town anyway.

Well, we had our meal at this restaurant as you could see from the photos. By the time we had lunch, it was almost 4 pm. Honestly, we were not hungry but greedy for the taste I should say. Finding this location is quite easy from the cable car station as there are loads of signages which direct one to Gotong Jaya. Now, time to head back to Kuala Lumpur.
