It was an extremely long and tiring journey. We had a few toilet stops in between at petrol kiosks and also one tea stop. In total, the journey too us 4 hours. This additional delay was contributed by the heavy flow of lorries which it seems in Indonesia, start their journey after 6 pm when it is dark. The interesting thing I observed about heavy lorries here is that unlike other places where one carrier pulls only one load of cargo, here one carrier has to two coaches of cargo attached to it making it even slower but I guess more cost efficient. Of course, this is not allowed in Malaysia.

By the time we arrived in Semarang City, it was already 11 pm at night. All the other restaurants were already closed at about 10 pm and we had no option but to stop at a Mc Donalds in one of the shopping malls to have or dinner. Surprisingly, the menu was the same as in Malaysia and yes, the price was cheaper. The only addition to the menu was the offering of bottled tea called ' teh botol' which was something unique to this region.

After our dinner, we head to the hotel. Here I had another small issue. Although I had booked on-line and paid for at the Arcor website, the hotel claimed that my card was declined which in actual fact, when I checked with the bank when I called them from the hotel, it was never charged in the first place. Funny right! Well, if it was double charged, I would have surely put an argument and since it was never charged in the first place, I just gave my card to them and they charged to it and the transaction went smooth. Of course, moreover I was too tired to argue too.

Having done with the check in, then we got back to the guide and the driver as we were dismissing their services here. From here tomorrow, we would be heading to the airport via taxi. I thanked them and also gave them a tip which they were quite happy. Truly, I was happy with their services and despite it being just a short journey over the past few days with them, we had already felt bonded and I am sure they felt the same too. At a point, the driver shed a few drops of tears too. Nevertheless, I did give my word to them that we would stay in touch and would surely meet again when we visit that region of Indonesia, perhaps use their services again. It was truly a touching moment, something that I have never felt with other tourist guides and driver. Incredible!

With that, we checked in to the room. The room, in comparison to Novotel, was extremely small but I was used to this as I had stayed in Ibis when I was in Dubai and the room design was absolutely the same. But it was just a short stay anyway so we were okay with it. With that, we had our bath and pretty much were in the room. Unlike Novotel which is a four star rated hotel, Ibis is a two star hotel and at some places it is three stars. This one was two star and it was a purely business hotel with no frills. I was surely in need of a beer for the night and called some to the room.

After about an hour or so, we called it a night. We have to wake up extremely early tomorrow and I am sure, I am going to be still sleepy once I wake up, however, as the flight is scheduled for 9 am, we would have to check out around 6.30 am.

An interesting sense of acquaintanceship with the guide and driver bro! Its great to know that the feeling was mutual, rarely happens nowadays.
