Only 16 more weeks left! Or you could say 4 months.....which sounds too long so I like to say 8 more paychecks-which sounds too short, haha.
Another Black Ops Party has come and gone. Great costumes again this year and lots of effort put forth on the decorations. This year they had it in the MEC (mechanical equipment center)-there were lots of black lights. Ron dressed up as The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, which didn't make a lot of sense but was pretty entertaining. I went as some sort of Star-Trekky Mcmurdo Chick. The theme is based on the conspiracy theories about Antarctica. Aliens, Military, Government...stuff like that. Basically lots of black light stuff-everyone has highlighter marks all over their faces, arms, legs. Anyhoo, it was fun again this year of course.
Mid-Winter Dinner was two weekends ago
Unfortunately Ron and missed the Mid-Winter Polar Plunge last weekend-the first one we've missed. Instead we skipped it and spent a fun evening with our favorite friends down here, Pauli and Heather. Heather makes the best margaritas I've ever had.
My job is going well-it's really cold out today. Although it's only -43F with the windchill, my fingers get too cold almost immediately being outside, even with hand-warmers in my glove liners...lucky for me, I don't have to be out there much today. I'm adding a picture of my work crew to this entry-we all posed with the big tools that the Heavy Shop keeps.
Bowling League is over for the season and we did pretty decent. Basically anything over 100 is a pretty good score for down here and I even made it up to 155 during one game. The lanes have become quite warped over the last 40 years that they've been here :-). It's fun though and I'm sure I'll play again next year. One of the funny things about bowling down here is everyone gets really excited about it. Literally every time you throw a decent ball everyone gives you high-fives and cheering, every time.
This weekend is already the Fourth of July and I've joined a Chili Cook-Off Team that should be pretty fun. We even have costumes planned, stay tuned for pictures!
Happy Birthday Mom!!!!!!!!
