Winfly has arrived! Yesterday over 100 people arrived at McMurdo. Ron and I both got to drive out to the airfield to pick up cargo and people. He drove a cargo delta and I drove a passenger delta. Both of them are large, old, rambling machines from the 70's with enormous tires. It was so foggy driving out there, I could hardly see the delta in front of me at times. We didn't even know that the plane had landed until all of a sudden a huge tail loomed in front of us. First the cargo was unloaded out of the back of the plane and then streams of people followed. I knew I would probably be driving mostly new people because if you've been here before you know not to get into a delta. Reasons being: they're bumpy, most of the heaters don't work and they're really, really slow. We finally made it back to town, and my passengers said they had a relatively smooth ride.

We now have some mail and some fruit. All of the winter-overs were given a small lunch bag to fill up first. I got apples, oranges, kiwis and strawberries....very nice. There are still 3 more flights to come in this upcoming week, bringing lots of new people and hopefully lots more fresh food. Today is Saturday and we get off early for a ceremony where we get out "winter-over" medals!
