After Nice it was a long train day to Barcelona to meet Danielle and Matt! A huge city with a fantastic old gothic quarter where we stayed in a hostel which was a house of ill repute, frequented by Picasso!!! The tall buildings housed intruiging little boutiques and cafes and tiny one room pubs. Everywhere were narrow winding streets that became like a maze to traverse thru! The cobblestoned streets where cleaned day and night and hosed down so by the morning they were fresh! Fantastic vegetarian fast food- felafal store..we ate there a couple of times and vegetarian restaurants too!
We visited the Cathederal which was breathtaking - to be finished in 2020 so we may have to go back to see it then!
Took a swim in the mediteranian - again! This time no rocks but a course sand that gleemed in the water like gold dust!
We all took to a few pubs, the first night was Danielles birthday so we started with some cold sangria and then had cocktails at this most tiny little one room place perched on a corner of the gothic quarter. After, we made our way thru the heaving 1am streets to another enchanting little place for absynthe and sparkling!
Another night we went to a fantastic little cocktail bar for martinis and a hidden little pub that I dont think has changed in the few hundred years its been there - so many places with so many amazing stories behind them!
We sat in the square as the locals do sipping beer and eating felafals and lived the life that only in dreams can one imagine.
