For Ina's Birthday this year...Mats, Staffan, and I help fetch and procure a new ocean kayak for her. The funny part was that we wanted to surprise her with it on the day of her birthday so we needed a plan. Since everyone in Staffan's family are engineers it was taken to task. We measured, hid, and schemed away to the big day. We ended up hiding the kayak inside the neighbor's garage and had put together the ladder the night before. Our plan involved at least two people to happen. Staffan was posted upstairs to receive the kayak and Mats was downstairs hoisting it up while I had the job of look out as well as making sure the kayak didn't come crashing down due to the ladder or other calamities. So the day had arrived and we all were awake around 6am to make sure she was asleep. Staffan and I headed to the neighbors garage to pick up the kayak and we carried it to the lawn outside to make ready. It was so funny. And Ina was dazed and confused. She told us she thought we had bought her a big rolled up rug for her birthday. It was funny and good times all around.
After the initial shock and awe of having a kayak inside the house and upstairs. We brought it back down to test it out. We went down to Habo and took it out on the water. Each of us had a go at it and it wasn't too bad. Not as stable as the wider ones I have used in Naples...but still pretty sweet.
