From April to September in Lomma Buktens Yacht Club there is a friendly competition among the members each Thursday evening. Having a yacht race at 6:30pm may seem late, but because of the high latitude the sun does not set until much later. So it works out.

Last Thursday it was Mats' turn to be the official and race coordinator. The job entailed signaling the boats with flags at the appropriate times to signal the start of the race and keep the time and record the place of the race. So I helped race the signal flags and used my keen eyes with the aid of binoculars to catch the boat numbers as they crossed the finish line. Mårten & Staffan were on the boat, so it was just Mats, Per one of Mårten's friends, and me on the jetty holding court.

I am excited about tomorrow because it will be the first time I will be sailing this summer. It is a little cold with the addition of the wind, but I think I will do all right.
