The flight to JFK was uneventful but we had the smallest plane ever!  It only sat 40 people and we had one air hostess - it was soo cute.  Our flight lasted 40 mins and then we were in New York.

We made our own way to my Mum's friends Peggy (from her school days) and her husband Joe's house on Staten Island.  We caught the airtrain, 2 subway trains and the famous Staten Island ferry and then Peggy picked us up from the ferry terminal.

That first night we settled in and went to meet up with their daughter Joanne, her husband Ken and their 2 kids who are very cute.  Peggy and Joe also took us our for Italian Ice which is popular here (big Italian population) and tastes like sorbet - yummy.

The next day Peggy took us to a big mall in New Jersey.  Bill wanted to buy a baseball mitt (as if our cases aren't loaded enough with my stuff!) so we got one (after a long conversation with the guy in the shop - they have different sizes and are different depending on what position you play - we just told him we wanted a regular one for a souvenir - I'm sure he thought we were crazy!).  In the evening we borrowed Peggy's car to go to the movies where we saw Balls of Fury - lots of fun.

The next day Joe was off work so we all went on a drive to Pennsylvania (yay another state - we're counting!).We went to New Hope which is very artsy, and Peddlers Village where we wandered around the little shops for ages.  On the way back, Joe stopped and showed us an old covered bridge which is rare here, and we went to a diner for dinner.

We also managed to find a book to keep my new coin collection in.  I started collecting quarters in Boston after Lynette told me that they have one for every state.  After raiding Lynette and Joe's quarter jars, I managed to complete my collection (cheating I know!).

Peggy and Joe have been great, it was really fun staying there - I'm sure we'll be back with my Mum in tow next time!
