Ecuador is very interesting to say the least. I like it but not better than peru. The food in Ecuador is not that good and decent restaraunts are difficult to find. Now I understand why they say Lima has the best food in South Amrica, because its ttruee. What I wouldnt do for a nice Argentine steak right now, my mouth is watering, so thats where Im going dammit. Where thee women are superfine, the food is good and thee dollar is 3 tims its value. Lima peru is a better place to live Ecuador is a good place to vacation. Ecuador is a beautiful small country, the Andes Mountainns are breathtaking! With its waterfalls, the most beeautiful beaches that Ive ever seen, fresh water streams and oh, I forgot the king of banana exportation. Its hot as the diickens in Guyaquil though.
The reaction of a new president of the united states has been very positive! Were movig up in the world folks, no thanks to G.W.B. The financial crisiis thats affectting North Amrica and Europ is not felt in peru or Ecuador. In fact the value of the dollar is exactly the same as when I arrived in Peru 1.5 years earlier. Gotta Love it!! Not leaving South Ameerica anytime soon, but I will be back in the states probably around March of 2009, most likely to traveling to Atlanta Georgia.
I was denied entry into 2 places in Guyyaquil, no doubt because of my skin color but when I begin to speak english they change there tune because they know I have money and am not a local. So, I enter the establishment to merely take up space and order nothing! If I can make them lose money for 10 minutes as payback for their obvious disrespect, good for me and shame on you. Otherwise the trip has been great.
On an added note me and my girlfriend have become very close in these past 6 months. I must say that she is the true definition of a "help mate". Good times and bad times, their all special moments that will never come again. Shes also good when I dont want to pay the "Gringo Tax" that sometimes I have to pay for speaking english. When I speak they say "oh, he has money, so Ill double the price"! hehe
Theres not much to do here in Guyaquil so we take weekend excursions to Motanita and stay at a nice quite hostal calles Swiss Point, very nice and yes the owners are from Switzerland.
The houuse we rented in Guyaquil is ok but like all land lords they are a pain in the a!#. Its nice to have so much free space though after being cramped in so many hotels and hostals. Lisseth has a kitchen to bake my favorite deserts and stuff like that. When we return to lima we rented an 3 bedroom 2.5 bath apartment so "mucho espacio otra vez".
