Well, Ive left Lima Peru after 1 year and 1 month for greener pastures literally!
Lima is indeed a desert and I am acustomed to more vegetation and grenery.
Heres the skinny on peru:
I love the fact that the country is so rich in culture. There is a diffrent culture in eeach part of Pru that I traveled. The food is great especially the variety from different parts of tthe world are available. The selection of beauttiful women is unbelievable, by far Im sure this is the best place to find a girlfriend, wife, belly warmer or what have you. Th women here ar generally very modest and not too bragadocious which I like, thy are "low keyd beauties". Im travling with my novia from Iquitos as we speak. (read past post)
The bad: There is nosun for 7 months. Due to the fact of the place it falls on the earth near the andes mountains there is a fog for 7 months of the year. I love the culture but sometimes they can be rude without intentionally being so. For example Peruvians walk without looking in front of theem alot so you get bumped alot or sometimes they just bump you in the street and its perfectly fine in their culture. They dont respct your personal spce like in some otheer cultures. They talk loud in restaurants and generally in a city of 12 mil. people there is no way to find peace and quiet. There are really no suburbs in lima and this was my first time living in the city and I will never do it again. I also have a new respect for police, now this city is not dangerous but the police preveent people from having loud parties all nite and things like that. I guess Im looking for a more ordered society in general. But peruvians are sweet people and were very very interested in a black man from north american. That alone was good enough to kep my date book filled.
Most people thought that I was from brazil and when I told them I was from the US they were enamored with me because I am diffreent and they think all of north america is lily white like the movies, I had to take them to school.
So now Im in Ecuador travling what they call "Ruta del sol" or the "route of the sun", up the coast. Where Ill stop to hang my hat next, nobody knows?
