Trip back to Santa Cruz was much smoother than the trip over. It was pretty sad leaving Isabela, the family was great, as were the other volunteers and the guys at the centre. We had a really great time there, saw lots, did lots, snorkelled lots, learnt lots. It was great.
Anyway, we're back on Santa Cruz now, until Tuesday next week.
On Thursday we went diving at North Seymour, which is a little island just north of the little island, Baltra, where the airport is here. The dives went pretty well, although on the first one we had on 7mm wetsuits - which they need here in the winter - and the water was 27 degrees. Needless to say I dove the second dive in just my togs & a t-shirt. Saw a Hammerhead Shark on the first dive which was very cool, plus a couple of Galapagos Green Turtles, Garden Eels and a whole bunch of Eagle Rays. On the second dive we saw loads of White Tipped Reef Sharks and Diamond Sting Rays sleeping in some shallow caves, followed by a school of about 20 white tips swimming in the currents out on the point. Very, very cool. The current was pretty strong on the second dive, especially while we were watching the sharks at the end, which Kristina didn't particularly enjoy
Yesterday we went back to North Seymour, but this time stayed dry. Saw loads of Frigate birds displaying their shockingly red neck pouches, which was of course our reason for visiting. We were on the island for just on an hour, which felt a little little, but I guess they have rules for how many people can be at a visitor site at any one time, so they have to restrict the time allowed. Still cool to see.
On Monday we're going to the Plaza islands which are just to the east of Santa Cruz, where we'll get to see land iguanas amongst other things. Should be fun.

470. Frigate birds
. Still, she's glad she did the dives and it was cool to see so much life. We don't think we'll be diving again here, but are very glad that we did the dives we did.Yesterday we went back to North Seymour, but this time stayed dry.
