The trip down to San Jose was pretty uneventful. Arrived in the middle of the afternoon and the pickup from Interbus went well. Friendly driver, not much english spoken, but really friendly.

San Jose feels like latin america. Not sure why, but it has something of the same feeling that parts of Rio had. Apparently its is quite a dangerous city - everywhere there are iron bars and barbed wire or razor wire protecting the houses, the shops, everything. Signs on the gate on the way out saying not to take anything with you unless it really is necessary. Saw loads of Police, and security guards but never had any hassle.

We'll be going back to San Jose a couple of times this trip, but only because it is our connection point. We did the national museum which was interesting 019. San Jose
019. San Jose
. Didn't know much about the history of this area before, so it was nice to learn a little. Mostly about life before the spaniards but even the whole colonisation thing and everything.

Flight out was in a little 19 seater from what must be one of the world's smallest international airports. Just a simple building, 2 international flights a day, so they have no x-ray machines or anything - its a hand search of all the baggage and hand luggage. They even weighed all the passengers and luggage. Unfortunately our flight was full, so they couldn't take any luggage with us. Kristina grabbed a couple of bags of clothes from her pack and we jumped on board. Hopefully the luggage will arrive tomorrow...
