With only 4 days left, things are starting to get hectic. We're busy packing and repacking, trying to keep the weight down. Making sure we've got everything we need and most of what we want.
Making sure we've got money available while we're away is also fun. We always make sure we have at least 3 credit cards with us, just in case. One of those is always my card from NZ. So we transferred over some money as usual, and then I went in on the 'net to check that it had gotten there ok. Only to find out that I couldn't access my account. A couple of phone calls later and it turns out that some bugger has pinched my card. They reckon it happened while we were in Thailand last year, and they've sat on the card for a year as a precaution. But it happened the day after we booked our transfer from the airport in San Jose to the hotel, so the jury's still out on that one.
Won't cost me anything, but a real pain in the arse. Anyway, they've fixed it so that they'll courier out a new card to me while we're at school in Panama, but definitely an inauspicious start to the trip.
We're expecting Latin America to be more risky than Asia, we just weren't expecting it before we left!
