back to Circular Quay where we caught the 30 minute ferry to Manly. After checking out their market we had lunch
and then went across the street to the beach.
It was closed to swimming but there were thousands of people milling
around the quaint town and on the beach.
The peninsula has beaches on both sides of it, one on the open ocean and the other looking
west towards Sydney. While lying on the
beach we noticed shark spotting helicopters flying over the local beaches
We made our way back to Sydney on the ferry and walked to, and around,
the Opera House. Then it was on thru the
huge Botanical Gardens to Mrs. MacQuarries “chair”. The “chair” was a seat carved out of the rock
at a point looking out over the channel from Sydney to the ocean. Inscribed above the chair was a note about
the road from Circular Quay to this point being completed in 1816. It was about 3 kilometers long and followed
along the water’s edge. On the walk we
came across 3 wedding parties. From MacQuarries
chair we walked back thru the gardens that are very impressive, going back to
1816. We must have walked about 4 miles
